8 Ways To Improve Your Self Esteem

Self esteem is an issue that everyone deals with at some point in their life and for most it persists being an issue. From someone who has struggled with self esteem, I have a few tips on how to look at yourself in the mirror differently after a hard day. 
   
  1. Create a night routine (and stick to it)
    • Consistency is the key to life. Washing your face, brushing your teeth, moisturizing, and doing a few cleansing, self-pampering actions before going to sleep usually helps you feel good in the morning and both start and end your day on a good note. Also these actions relax you before going to bed which improves your mood and body in every area
  2. Listen to uplifting music
    • Nothing can change your mood quicker than music and the right artist can always remind you that what you look like doesn't mean as much as you think it does. California Kids by Weezer is a good reminder that there are always people to look out for you and Oh Ms.Believer by Twenty One Pilots is a nice uplifting song. 
  3. Have a healthy snack or meal 
    • You cannot be healthy on the outside without being healthy on the inside! You'll always feel bad about yourself if you're looking at models while stuffing your face with chips (we've all done it).
  4. Get rid of your scale (out of sight!!! out of mind!!)
    • For most people, weight is a sensitive issue and the source of most insecurity. Putting away your scale stops reminding you about a number you might be letting ruin your life.
  5. Read body positive books
  6. Buy new clothes
    • Shopping therapy exists, and it is here for you. It's possible that your clothes are bringing you down and going through your wardrobe could help you see yourself in a new light.
  7. Take a long shower 
    • Personally, taking a shower always clears my mind and forces me to confront hard thoughts. (Being clean also always feels great inside and out.)
  8. Tell a friend and/or family member about your insecurities
    • Above all, letting out your inner turmoil is the best way to clear your head. If you can't tell anyone about your problems, writing it down (guilty as charged) is also a good option. 


I hope these helped and remember that you are more than your body! Flaws are beautiful when looked at from a different angle and you will always be your biggest critique!! You're Beautiful!!!
