19 Resolutions You Should Set For Yourself This New Year

02 January, 2019

The best part about New Year's is how inspired everyone is to make resolutions to have a remarkable life all the really good jokes about it not turning out the way you expected it. I like that as a society we get together at the end of the year and both reminisce about the past and look forward to the future. It's one of the really, really good things about us.

So, when you get in that New-Year-New-Me mood, plan with these things in mind. This list is to get you on track and think about what you really want out of life as whole, before you plan the little details. Think about why you want to change your body before you go to the gym and the type of people you want to surround yourself with before you jump into saying yes to plans. When you're getting off from your holiday break, think about these things when you're goal setting and planning again for the new year. Remind yourself that every single day is an opportunity to start new.

1. a living space that makes you happy to just be
2. people who motivate you to do better
3. change that will challenge you to rethink what you know and improve it all
4. weekdays that don't make you just wish it were Sunday again
5. a book that you can tell people is your favorite when they ask
6. a reason to do what you do
7. a closer (or at least comfortable) relationship to family because it is always worth it
8. less screen time, duh,
9. more present time doing things that you know are silly but make you happy
10. to see more sunrises
11. be comfortable with your emotions instead of hiding from them
12. clothes that come from an ethical place and not just trends that won't last the year
13. music that doesn't just get you through the quiet but makes you crave the sound
14. a place to escape and another one that keeps you grounded
15. your own goals and not what everyone else is telling you is socially acceptable to want (ironic, I know)
16. someone who will take care of you and to take care of
17. time outdoors with the world you haven't seen yet
18. delete all the things you know don't matter, find space for what does
19. and to have pictures of everything.

Simple, yet important. These are just a few things I think everyone should keep in mind and strive towards. Success will always look differently to every person- this inspiration will remind you of that.

It's important to set new year's goals even if you don't even glance at them a second time. I'm sure you've heard a million times about how important goal setting is,  but it makes life so much easier when you already have a ready to go answer to the questions "who are you?" and "who do you want to be?". The answer doesn't have to be set in stone and it doesn't have to be what the other person wants to hear, it just has to be the 2019 version of you. What does that look like? Something tells me you already know.

I love that we are all on a path to better ourselves whether we realize it or not. Everyday we at least try take steps to be the best we can be and at the end of the year we make room for new beginnings, however that looks, and remind each other that we've accomplished so much with so much more to go.

  1. I absolutely adore this post. Your perspective about New Year's goals is so unbelievably refreshing. I feel like it's so much more important to think about what environment you want to be in and what people you want to have around you in the new year then all of the hyper-planned, super-specific goals. For me, it's more like, the vibe or direction I want to move in. Reading your list was so calming! Loved this post so very much. <3

  2. I think starting big and moving small is really important haha. Thank you so much! ♡

  3. Great list dear, especially 10th and 19th. The little things that we often overlook. And completely agree with 18th.
